Mindful of Earth Program

Mindful USC’s Mindful of Earth program is open to anyone inspired to practice mindfulness in harmony with the natural world. The program features practices that cultivate presence, empathy, and earth-inspired creativity. Sessions include a warm welcome, grounding exercise, guided practice, and some relaxed group reflection. Open to everyone!

SPRING 2026: THE ELEMENTS SERIES

This series invites you to reconnect with the natural world as a source of grounding, clarity, and calm. Each of the sessions centers on one of five elements – Air, Fire, Water, Wood, and Earth – and introduces simple, nature-rooted mindfulness practices you can use anywhere, anytime.

FALL 2026: TREE SERIES

A nourishing series of short, earth-honoring practices that deepen our relationship with the trees around us. 

  • Session 1 – Breathing with Trees: Connect with the wisdom of trees through breath and presence. 
  • Session 2 – Befriending a Tree: Build a relationship with a single tree through presence, observation, and mindful connection.
  • Session 3 – Charming the Tree Spirit: Honor the soul of a tree through sacred care and attention.
  • Session 4 – Attuning to Tree Wisdom: Slow down and listen to the teachings trees carry.
  • Session 5 – Sacred Offerings to Trees: Offer water, herbs, ribbon, or song in reverence; simple gifts rooted in earth-honoring traditions.

SPRING 2025

  • Session 1 – Breathing with Trees: Connect with the wisdom of trees through breath and presence. 
  • Session 2 – Sound Surfing & Nature Journaling: Engage with the beauty of nature through deep listening and mindful journaling.
  • Session 3 – Creating Nature Mosaics: Honor the interconnectedness of life and the beauty of the Earth by gathering small natural treasures from a grove on campus and arranging them into beautiful mosaics. 
  • Session 4 – Listening to the Wisdom of Water: Experience the calming presence of water as you sit by campus fountains, tuning into their different voices.
