Rev. Melvin Soriano

Canterbury @ USC

The Rev. Melvin Soriano serves as the Chaplain of Canterbury USC at the University of Southern California, where he supports students, faculty, and staff in their spiritual growth through prayer, teaching, and fellowship. A priest in the Episcopal Church of the Diocese of Los Angeles, he is dedicated to creating compassionate and inclusive spaces where every person’s story is valued and honored.

Born in the Philippines and raised in Chicago and Los Angeles, Reverend Mel is a proud Trojan who spent many years working in the technology industry before entering ministry. He now serves nearby at St. John’s Cathedral on the corner of Adams and Flower as Priest Associate for Faith, Formation, and Finance, where he teaches, preaches, and leads formation programs for all ages.

A frequent pilgrim of the Camino de Santiago, he brings a love of walking, storytelling, liturgy, and spiritual exploration to his work with the USC community. His ministry centers on belonging, justice, and the belief that sacred wisdom emerges through accompanying others on their spiritual journey.
