InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, Latino Fellowship (LaFe), and Black Campus Ministries (BCM)
Tim Hoang is the Religious Affiliate and Campus Minister of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, Latino Fellowship (LaFe), and Black Campus Ministries (BCM) at USC.
Tim grew up as a pastor’s kid from Orange County, California and is Vietnamese-American. He graduated from UCI in 2020 with a B.S. in Biology/Education. Before he served in campus ministry with InterVarsity, Tim was a former high school science teacher. Combining his love for teaching, college students, and Jesus, Tim sensed the call to serve in campus ministry with InterVarsity at USC. Since replanting the fellowship in 2021, InterVarsity Trojan Christian Fellowship (IVTCF) is now a thriving, intentional community that invites students to explore faith and experience God’s love on campus, building lifelong friendships along the way. Along with the general multi-ethnic chapter, Tim also supports and oversees the Latino Fellowship (LaFe) and Black Campus Ministries (BCM) which are focus ministries that support, disciple, and reach Latino and Black students at USC. Part of Tim’s values in ministry is a deep commitment to God’s heart for justice, caring for the city of Los Angeles, and uplifting the cause of the marginalized and the oppressed. Tim hopes to see USC students become compassionate disciples of Jesus, leaders who are sent with authority, faithful witnesses who act and live justly, and catalysts of incarnational, cross-cultural community.
Tim is obsessed with 3 things (other than Jesus): nature, music, and video games. Tim loves being outdoors, going to the beach, tidepooling, whale watching, hiking, and camping. He has gone to 27 out of the 63 national parks in the United States, and his life goal is to reach all 63! Tim also loves all things music: playing instruments, singing, going to concerts and festivals, and curating niche Spotify playlists that capture every human emotion. And lastly, Tim loves playing video games! Even though he’s hard stuck silver in every video game, he loves spending time with his friends online or in-person.
