The Office of Religious & Spiritual Life offers free yoga sessions for all USC students and staff. Sessions at the University Religious Center are taught by certified, dynamic, and highly experienced teachers. Classes focus not just on physical fitness and health but also on connecting to one’s center and finding peace.
Classes require a current USC ID. No registration is necessary. Mats and accessories are first-come, first-served. Admission closes 10 minutes after start time or when capacity is reached. Restrooms can be found upstairs if you need a changing space.
Timothy Grundy is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher (CIYT) at the Introductory II level and has been teaching yoga in the tradition of BKS Iyengar in Los Angeles and Berlin since 2016. He has studied widely with senior teachers in the US and Germany and works to distill their teaching for his own practice and, by extension, for his students. Rigorous and compassionate in his teaching, Timothy focuses first and foremost on the physical aspects of yoga as a way to quiet the mind. Timothy also works as a professional translator and found in yoga a practice that helped resolve the mental knots and daily frustrations left in the wake of resolving thorny language questions.
Connie Q. Chang is a certified Hatha Yoga Teacher who completed her 200-hour teacher training at Yoga Madre in 2019. The training deepened her knowledge of Hatha Yoga and strengthened her mind-body connection. She has practiced yoga since 2011, having traveled to Costa Rica to immerse herself spiritually in the practice. Connie works as a financial professional at USC. She finds yoga and meditation crucial to channeling her focus, thinking clearly, reducing fear, and building confidence in both the workplace and her everyday surroundings. Her passion for yoga motivates her to continue learning, practicing, and teaching.
