Christian Challenge seeks to lift up the name of Jesus Christ, develop Christian leaders, and nurture students in the Christian life that they may be lifelong laborers in the harvest. Historically linked with the Southern Baptist Convention, it is an interdenominational ministry found on 1,200 college campuses in the US.
I rarely went to church, in the Midwest where I grew up, and had little exposure to Christ. Through the help of some friends, I began a relationship with Jesus in high school. I came to college wanting to know Him better but had no idea how to do that. Then I encountered some guys who really made it practical. One guy in particular took an interest and invested heavily in my life. I began to work to do that same thing with others. I love working with college students today and helping them discover Christ and the life He alone can provide. I feel like college is a key time of life when students make decisions that will impact the rest of their lives.
I am grateful that we get to be a part of that. Melinda and I have been married forty years, have 4 grown children and 10 grandkids and began Challenge at University of Southern California in the 1987-1988 school year.
