Aimee Bender joined the faculty at USC this fall as a full-time professor in the English Department in the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. She received her MFA from UC Irvine and her BA from UCSD.
Aimee is the author of two very successful books. Her collection of short stories, The Girl in the Flammable Skirt, was a New York Times Notable book of the year and spent seven weeks on the Los Angeles Times bestseller list. Her novel, An Invisible Sign of My Own, was a pick of 2000 by the Los Angeles Times and a bestseller here as well. Both books have been translated into several languages. Her short fiction has been published in Granta, GQ, Story, the Paris Review, Harper’s and many more journals. She is currently at work on a new novel and a new collection of stories. She has taught fiction at Cal Tech and UCLA, prior to joining the faculty at USC.
