For over 30 years, Dr. Lynette Merriman has provided guidance, support and advocacy for college students. Serving in leadership, service and support positions, Dr. Merriman has worked throughout the campus community in student affairs, academic schools and departments and admissions. Most recently she served as Assistant Vice Provost for Student Affairs, Support and Advocacy.
In her role as Associate Vice Provost for Support and Intervention, she now has the opportunity to assist the entire campus community. Dr. Merriman knows that everyone needs help at some point. Whether a student, faculty member or staff member – life happens and one day you may find yourself in need of support. As a large multifaceted university – knowing where to go and what assistance is out there is not always easy. People come to USC to accomplish amazing things – to learn, create new knowledge, perform, innovate and provide service. Campus Support and Intervention is about helping members of the community. The office identifies resources, presents options and provides referrals to assist members of the Trojan Family to get back on track, meet their USC goals, and help them to accomplish what they came to the university to do. From basic campus troubleshooting, to responding to and supporting people who have minor challenges or who have experienced critical incidents/crises – Campus Support and Intervention is are here for the USC community to foster a community of care and well-being. Dr. Merriman and her team knows the community and knows campus resources. As a member of the Trojan Family for many years she cares greatly about its students, faculty, and staff.
Dr. Merriman holds a faculty appointment as an assistant professor of clinical education in the USC Rossier School of Education where she teaches courses in Student Affairs administration. She has presented numerous times at national conferences. Dr. Merriman received her bachelor’s degree from USC, a master’s degree in higher education administration, and a doctorate in education from UCLA.
