Sunny Kang

Director and Senior Pastor of United University Church

Sunny Kang is the Director and Senior Pastor of United University Church on 2208 S. Union Ave. UUC is associated with United Methodist Church and Presbyterian Church (USA).

Ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the current Moderator of the Pacific Presbytery of the PCUSA.

Served as a pastor in Florida, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and California including several immigrant Korean churches, English speaking Chinese church, mul-ethnic as well as European North American congregations.

Was Assistant Chaplain at Macalester College, a community organizer as the National Staff of PCUSA and Grant program Manager of a national foundation making grants in the areas of empowering communities to break out of poverty.

Lectured widely in the areas of counseling for young adult faith formation and racial ethnic identity development process. Served on the writing team to write the first book that discussed Asian North American Ministry subsequent to immigration, and the faith based Anti-Racism training program for PCUSA.

Services in the community includes former chair of LA County Commission on Children and Families, Executive Director of Asian Ministry Connection (AMC), Board Chair of Korean Family Resource Center (KFAM), and Executive Director of Kang Family Foundation.
